The Adoption Process for Birth Mothers

I can meet you wherever is most convenient for you - your home, my office, or any other place where you feel comfortable. this meeting can either be in person, by Zoom, over the telephone, by email, or even by text. You and I will discuss your adoption plan, what your preferences are for an adoptive family, and how open you would like the adoption to be.

We will stay in touch with you as much or as little as you prefer. This is not an adoption agency, so I will not schedule a lot of meetings with you, I will let you take the lead here.

At NO COST to you, I will help you with: * the Medicaid application, if you do not have insurance * counseling before & after birth * payments for pregnancy-related expenses *serve as YOUR attorney

Once you are in labor, let me know! I will not come to the hospital until you are ready, and definitely not until after the baby is born. Generally I will come to the hospital around 24 hours after the baby arrives, but I will coordinate with you and the hospital social worker on a time that will work best. UNDERSTAND that you can still change your mind, I will not pressure you to sign the consent documents, just let me know.

After the baby is placed with the adoptive family, it will not be unusual to have a lot of conflicting emotions. I believe it is important for you to be able to have someone who can answer the questions you will have and who understands your feelings.
